On this page you will find a list of those items indispensable to work and create in the ideal kitchen.  Some items are simple yet crucial, others are more luxury items, yet to duplicate what they accomplish may be next to impossible.  Outfitting your kitchen as such may depend on your budget and the space available to you.  Just remember the basics are most important and work off that.

Knives:
 - chef knife - quality, comfortable and sharp
 - bread knife
 - small paring or utility knife

Knife maintenance:
 - steel
 - stones - for really getting an edge back

Cutting boards:
 - one large enough to handle real tasks - butchery and breadmaking
 - one smaller so someone can help you - also good for cutting brad at the table

Cookware:
 - stockpot - 4 or 5 litres or larger depending on tasks
 - saucepot
 - saute pan
 - sauteuse (straight sided saute pan - good for small braises)
 - small frypan
 - non-stick skillet
 - cast iron pan
 - roasting pan with lid
 - sheet pans - often one is not enough

Small appliances:
 - handheld immersion blender
 - (2) coffee grinders - one for spices, one for coffee
 - digital scale
 - gram scale
 - timer
 - temperature probe - doubles as thermometer

Larger appliances:
 - stand mixer
 - bar blender
 - deep fryer
 - pressure cooker
 - sous-vide circulator
 - vacuum sealer
 - ice cream machine
